Janelle Flay began her professional life by enlisting in the US Army at the ripe old age of 19, moving away from Minnesota with the plan of seeing the world.  During her years in the service, she lived in Korea, dealt with sensitive military communications, taught hand-to-hand combat, and was awarded the Army Commendation of Merit. 

After the Army, Janelle moved to Philadelphia and changed things up by pursuing a Literature degree from a small liberal arts college with plans to eventually become an English Literature professor.  To pay the bills, she lived the restaurant service life and developed a passion for bartending and mixology.  (Ask her to make you a gin martini sometime, they are delicious… and dangerous!)

After completing her bachelor’s degree, Janelle moved to Austin, TX, and in her quest for a job fell into the hotel business with the Crowne Plaza Austin.  After 5 months as a Sales Coordinator, she was promoted to Crowne Meetings Director, which is when she fell in love with working with clients and executing events.  Following her heart led her back home to Minnesota to be with her now husband, Brett.  Since being back her pursuit of the quintessential event experience further developed during her work as Catering Manager at the boutique Hotel Ivy in Minneapolis. 

When offered the challenge of executing events at three unique spaces within the Bartmann Group, Janelle leapt at the opportunity to not only try something new, but to also work for a company that embodies so much of her own life ethos.  When she is not at work you can find her practicing yoga, hanging at home with her menagerie of rescue pets, or doing wedding photography with her husband.  

Janelle thrives on cultivating relationships with talented event specialists in the city and creating a one-of-a-kind experience for each of her clients, and looks forward to making your next event a memorable one!
